1. 250 gm. Maida
2. 1/4 tsp Salt
3. 2 tbsp Ghee
4. Water as Required
5. 1 Cup Desiccated Coconut
6. 1/2 Cup Sugar
7. Chopped Cashews & Almonds
9. 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
9. Oil to Fry
At first take maida in a bowl and add salt, ghee and water as required and knead the dough as long as it gets soft. The dough should not be more soft or more hard. Now keep the dough aside for few minutes. In the mean time we will prepare the stuffings of the modak. Take some ghee in a kadai and add desiccated coconut and sugar. Now stir fry it till the sugar melts. Thereafter add some chopped almonds and cashew and some raisins too. For flavour add some cardamom powder and fry all the things together. After few seconds our special stuffings will be ready.
Now take generous portion of the dough in hand and make small balls from it. Then roll it like a medium roti and put the stuffings in the middle of it. Now take it in your hand and fold the edge of it one by one and then close the gap over the stuffings to give it the shape of modak. Make as many modaks as you can from all the stuffings and dough. Now you can steam it or can fry it like me.
Heat sufficient amount of oil in a pan and fry all the modaks in it till they are golden and crispy. When done place it on a tissue paper.
Here our Ganesh Chaturthi Special Fried Modak is ready. Serve it hot. Ganpati Bappa Mourya…..
