Ingredients :

1. 150 gm. Moong Dal(Yellow Lentils)
2. 150 gm. Rice
3. Some Soyabeans
4. 3 Bay Leaves
5. Some Whole Ground Spices
6.2 Dry Red Chillies
7. Some Roasted Peanuts
8.1/3 tspn Asafoetida(Hing)
9.1 tspn Cumin Seeds(Jeera)
10. 2 Sliced Potatoes
11. 1 Chopped Carrot
12. 2 Chopped Tomatoes
13.2 Green Chillies
14. 1 tblspn Grated Ginger
15. 1/2 tspn Turmeric Powder
16. 1 tspn Coriander Powder
17. 1/2 tspn Cumin Powder
18. 1 tspn Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
19. 1/2 tspn Garam Masala Powder
20. 1 tblspn Sugar
21. 1 tblspn Ghee
22. Salt to taste
23. Water as required
24. Oil as required

: Method :

 

1.At first roast the moong dal in a pan for 3 minutes. Then take it out and wash in fresh water. On the other hand keep the soya beans soaked in hot water for a while. Now take some oil in a cooker and put bay leaves, whole ground spices, dry red chillies and roasted peanuts in it and saute for few seconds. Then add potatoes and carrots in the oil and fry for 3-4 minutes. Then add chopped tomatoes, stir & then add green chillies and grated ginger and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add some salt to quicken the process.

2. After 2-3 minutes add the soaked soya beans and mix well. Now add all the powdered masalas one by one. After adding all the masalas stir continuously for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. After that add the roasted & washed Moong Dal and washed Rice and mix it well with the masalas. Add some garam masala powder, give a mix.Now we will add water(slightly more than a litre) and salt to taste. Now lock the cooker lid till 4 whistles on high flame.

3.After 4 whistles in cooker open the lid and check for the right consistency of the khichdi. If it is done perfectly add some garam masala powder, some sugar and some ghee, give all the things a good mix.

Here our Monsoon Special Masala Khichdi is ready to be served hot with Papad.Enjoy…
