1. 1 Cup Basmati Rice
2. 3 tbsp Oil
3. Some Cashews & Raisins
4. 2 Bay Leaves
5. 2 Dry Red Chillies
6. 1/2 tsp Jeera
7. Some Whole Spices
8. 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
9. 1 Chopped Carrot
10. 2 Chopped Onions
11. 1.5 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
12. 2 Chopped Green Chillies
13. 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
14. 4 Diced Tomatoes
15. 1 tsp Coriander Powder
16. 1/2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
17. 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
18. 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
19. Chopped Coriander Leaves
20. Salt to Taste
21. 1.5 Cup Water
22. Lemon Juice


At first soak the rice in water for a while. Keep it aside and lets fry the veggies. At first fry some cashews and raisins lightly and keep them aside. Now in the same oil add all the whole spices and saute for a while. Then add carrot and fry for few seconds. After 1 minute add chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, chopped green chillies and little turmeric powder and saute well. After sauteing for 2 minutes add diced tomatoes. Now we shall cook the tomatoes by covering the pan.

After few minures when tomato gets softened add coriander powder, red chilli powder, some tomato ketchup and garam masala powder and mix all the things together. After that add some chopped coriander leaves. Then its time to add our soaked basmati rice and mix well with the veggiesd and masalas. Now we will add salt to taste and the fried cashew & raisins and mix for few seconds. Now the most vital part, adding water. Add 1.5 times quantity of water in respect of the quantity of rice. Add little lemon juice, mix well and lock the cooker till 2 whistles. After that our super delicious tomato rice or tomato pulao is ready to serve hot.
